Pocket PC Thoughts: Enable High Resolution Mode in Internet Explorer Mobile

Windows Mobile 6 Professional devices with VGA displays are few and far between, but if you're fortunate enough to have such a device, there is a feature in Internet Explorer Mobile that you can put to good use. Read on to find out more.

The Pocket PC veterans here may recall the days when SE_VGA and ozVGA were all the rage. They helped users maximize the potential of their device's VGA display, particularly while browsing the web. Sadly, these applications have failed to keep up with each successive version of Windows Mobile, so support has declined dramatically. Enter Internet Explorer Mobile's high-resolution browsing mode. Enabling it is a simple three-tap process. Launch Internet Explorer Mobile, and tap Menu > View > Use High Resolution.

Of course, Internet Explorer Mobile is still a far cry from being a powerful mobile browser, but at least this is a step in the right direction.
